Changing Faces at the Montana Consensus Council
Edwards said she was attracted to the MCC position because of the opportunity to bring her experience back to Montana . "I hope it will be helpful in building a model for state-tribal relations in Montana," she said. Edwards said she is meeting with state agency leaders and looking for opportunities to play a role in intergovernmental (federal, state, tribal) issues, as well as in ensuring that citizens have a role to play in resolving Montana's pressing policy problems.
In these tight budget times, says Edwards, sponsoring a consensus-based process may be something governments think they can't afford. However, she believes there is strong evidence to suggest they can't afford NOT to do it.
Two Managing Directors will continue in their positions at MCC. Nedra Chandler has 17 years of experience working on public policy issues in Montana , Washington DC, and the Pacific Northwest. Kathy van Hook's expertise includes workplace mediation, facilitation, and training.
